Saturday 9th December sees an exciting opportunity to work with artist Radha Patel to explore future language through interplanetary narratives and the making/sculpting of creatures with clay.
The workshop is open to anyone 15+, who is interested in intergalactic lore and sharing their hopes for the future.
Radha is a Welsh writer, reviewer and artist whose work intersects across colonialism, nature, religion and the future.
In 2019, she was selected for g39’s UNITe programme where she developed ‘Notes From Aarti’s Diary, telling the story of people of colour who became trapped inside a spaceship and explored life without of white-supremacy, ‘after a surge activated the vessel and sent them flying throughout the cosmos, until they landed on the Planet Kelvin’. ‘Finding Aarti’ is a follow up film where the original protagonist’s sister travels the galaxy in search of her sibling, exploring her relationship with land and other beings, and figuring out rituals to sustain these relationships along the way.
The language here is ‘an experiment in healing’ – a process explored by our original protagonists to help them find the words to describe and navigate their new freedom.
Starting at 10am the workshop will run until 2pm, followed at 3pm by an artist talk.

Ar Ddydd Sadwrn y 9fed o Ragfyr bydd cyfle cyffrous i weithio gyda’r artist Radha Patel i archwilio iaith y dyfodol trwy naratifau rhyngblanedol a gwneud/cerflunio creaduriaid gyda chlai.
Mae’r gweithdy yn agored i unrhyw un 15+, sydd â diddordeb mewn llên rhyngalaethol a rhannu eu gobeithion ar gyfer y dyfodol.
Mae Radha yn awdur, adolygydd ac artist Cymreig y mae ei waith yn croestorri ar draws gwladychiaeth, natur, crefydd a’r dyfodol.
Yn 2019, cafodd ei dewis ar gyfer rhaglen UNITe g39 lle datblygodd ‘Notes From Aarti’s Diary’, gan adrodd hanes pobl o liw a gafodd eu dal y tu mewn i long ofod ac a archwiliodd fywyd heb oruchafiaeth wen, ‘ar ôl i ymchwydd actifadu’r llong a’u hanfon i hedfan drwy’r cosmos, nes iddynt lanio ar y Planed Kelvin’. Mae ‘Finding Aarti’ yn ffilm ddilynol lle mae chwaer y prif gymeriad gwreiddiol yn teithio’r alaeth i chwilio am ei chwaer, yn archwilio ei pherthynas â thir a bodau eraill, ac yn darganfod defodau i gynnal y perthnasoedd hyn ar hyd y ffordd.
Mae’r iaith yma yn ‘arbrawf mewn iachâd’ – proses a archwiliwyd gan ein prif gymeriadau gwreiddiol i’w helpu i ddod o hyd i’r geiriau i ddisgrifio a llywio eu rhyddid newydd. Gan ddechrau am 10yb bydd y gweithdy yn rhedeg tan 2yp, gyda sgwrs artist i ddilyn am 3yp.
